EXPANDED PAINTING 2
(Curated by Helena Kontova and Giancarlo Politi)Expanded Painting is dedicated to painting from all over the world with all its diverse connotations and in all its diverse conjugations. Expanded Painting 1 veritably 'baptized' or, so to speak, 'consecrated' artists like Andro Wekua, Matthias Weischer, Dana Schutz, Tal R, Wilhelm Sasnal and Victor Man.
On the occasion of Expanded Painting 2, Victor Man served as an advisor himself for a special focus on the 'School of Cluj' in Romania, which, after Leipzig and Dresden, is proving to be a veritable goldmine of contemporary painters.
Presenting more than twenty ‘expanded’ projects – such as Matthieu Ronsse’s everyday-objects installation and Ulla von Brandenburg’s Scene II – Expanded Painting 2 aims to carefully monitor the progress of painting and to keep a finger on its pulse as well as demonstrate painting's ability to continue to be a lively form of communication in contemporary art.
