DER PROZESS

Collective Memory and Social History

(Curated by Marco Scotini)
Inspired by Franz Kafka’s eponymous masterpiece, Der Prozess (The Trial) is intended to be a kind of time machine. It is a retrospective vision of history before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the break up of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union), seen from the point of view of today's postfordist transformation.
Through a kind of judicial process, the project tries to reinterpret history and decipher the documents from the past after new editing. The project is about history on trial from a private point of view, starting from the bottom, and in minute detail. It is about the hopes for social emancipation, cultural hegemony and community construction.
Featuring artworks and projects focused on social history and collective memory the Der Prozess display is both precise and refined, a sort of mixture between the black box and the white cube.
